Waved her William off to war,
He would return and wed her,
This was his solemn swear,
Late nights perched at her window,
No news of William came,
Nightmares of war her only visitor,
with prayers in vain,
Years passed and men returned,
But Eleanor was spurned,
For neither William or a letter of his passing came,
And on one moonlight night,
Her heart in ardent pain,
She called to holy father,
and cursed his holy name!
Why do we ride so fast
It is the speed of death
Please leave the dead alone!
With hooves and screams they quicken pace unto their wedding bed,
Beyond the valley of the dead,
The horseman points,
This is your marriage bed,
But yet he points to open grave,
Inside is William’s shattered corpse and broken armor
And cast inside is Eleanor…
